Operating Room Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Operating Room (OR) provides care for a diverse range of patients with various surgical needs. The specialties include, but are not limited to:

  • Orthopedics
  • General Surgery
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Urology
  • Cardiac Surgery
  • Neurosurgery
  • Vascular Surgery
  • Ophthalmic Surgery
  • Gynecology (GYN)
  • Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT)
  • Thoracic Surgery
  • Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Trauma care (Level 1 Trauma Center)
The OR is equipped with advanced technology, including two Da Vinci surgical robots utilized across multiple services and transplant programs involving livers, kidneys, and hearts.

Job Duties
  • Assist in the care and management of patients undergoing surgical procedures.
  • Provide both scrub and circulate duties during operations.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams and support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in callbacks, floating between units, and manage holiday and weekend shifts as needed.
Job Requirements
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of New York.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of operating room experience in a Level 1 trauma environment.
  • Ability to scrub and circulate in surgery.
  • Telemetry experience is highly desired.
Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
Preferred Surgical Experience
  • Experience with specialty cases, including transplants, plastics, and reconstructive surgeries.
  • Craniotomy experience.
  • A strong background in orthopedic surgeries.
