Interventional Radiology Procedural Radiologic Technologist - Acute

Job Description Summary External applicants may be eligible for a $25,000 sign-on bonus with a one-year work commitment. Position Summary The Vascular Interventional Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Interventional Radiologist for minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures. The technologist must have knowledge of the various imaging equipment in use including fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT), and ultrasound. The technologist assists in performing many NeuroInterventional surgical procedures such as cerebral aneurysm coilings, avascular malformations and stroke interventions. Oncology procedures performed in the lab include biopsies of various organs, chemo embolizations and Y-90 radiopharmaceutical therapies. The technologist also assists with uterine artery embolizations, venous lysis of tumors, vertebroplasties, infusion pump placements/revisions, radiofrequency ablations and other peripheral vascular interventions. The department performs over 20,000 procedures annually. Lab Staffing and Shift The Interventional Radiology Lab is staffed 24/7, so there is no on-call requirement for the technologists. This is a night shift position. Career Development After one year of experience in the IR lab, the technologist is eligible to be promoted to a Senior Procedural Radiologic Technologist position, which includes a slight pay increase. Responsibilities Assist the Interventionalist as the scrub assistant during minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. Maintain competency in operating and using angiographic fluoroscopy, ultrasound and CT (both diagnostic and interventional). Assist in performing neurointerventional and oncology procedures, including biopsies, chemo-embolizations, Y-90 therapies and peripheral vascular interventions. Greets patients upon arrival, verifies informed consent, and explains procedures to the patient. Assist the Radiation Safety Officer in quality assurance of the labs and radiation protective apparel, checking lead aprons for tears and reporting findings. Participate in room turnover and transportation of patients. Focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing all job duties as part of a high-reliability organization (HRO). Minimum Qualifications State of Ohio Radiologic Licensure (Licensed in Field – State of Ohio). American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) – Registered. Basic Life Support (BLS) – Certified by the American Heart Association. Shift and Hours Night shift – 40 hours per week. Department Interventional Radiology.
