Junior Building Custodian

Overview This is a provisional appointment. Under supervision, performs a variety of ordinary maintenance tasks of a semiskilled nature to buildings and grounds. Responsibilities Performs window cleaning, interior and exterior. Cleans walls and lavatories. Moves furniture; sweeps and mops floors. May make adjustments and repairs to toilets, sinks, and drinking fountain mechanisms. May change bulbs. May paint and perform minor carpentry work. Cuts grass and trims bushes; strips, washes, and waxes floors. Performs all cleaning duties involved with buildings and grounds, shovels snow. Uses floor buffers, lawn mowers, weed whackers, snow blowers, and plow equipment that do not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Picks up refuse around grounds and performs related work as required. Minimum Entrance Qualifications Applicants must have knowledge of cleaning methods and materials. Must be in good physical condition. Must be able to understand and follow simple oral instructions. Must be self-motivated. Must have the ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. Massachusetts driver's license preferred. THIS POSITION COULD BE ASSIGNED TO ANY BPD WORK LOCATION.
