Bus Aide

Support Staff Position

Title: Bus Aide (Special Services)

Qualifications: High School Diploma, general understanding of public school education, competency in area assigned, and good human relation skills

Reports to: Special Services Bus Driver, Director of Transportation

Job Goal: To assist in providing a well organized and safe special services bus route.

Performance Indicators:

• Assists bus driver in maintaining bus discipline, managing students, helping students to properly fasten seat belts, and securing wheel chairs and other restraint devices as necessary.
• Interacts with students on a continuous basis to establish interpersonal relationships to facilitate a positive environment of discipline.
• Instructs students on proper behavior and writes up bus referrals as necessary to maintain order on the school bus.
• Helps keep the interior of the bus clean and free of trash.
• Adheres to district policies and departmental procedures.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students.
• Maintains confidentiality of information about students.
• Attends school bus safety meetings on a monthly basis.
• Other duties, not specifically mentioned above, may be assigned by the Director of Transportation or bus driver.

Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by Board Policy

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy
