Adjunct - Music

Job Summary: Provide classroom instruction in a variety of music courses including, but not limited to: music theory, music foundations, music and culture, applied music, and special topics in music. Develop a syllabus and assignments that meet course objectives; conference with students, maintain records on and evaluate student performance. Compensation: $1,150 per credit hour - Doctorate $1,050 Per credit hour - Master's Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree Minimum five years professional field related experience. Previous successful college teaching experience Demonstrated proficiency in area of musical expertise. Desired Qualifications: Graduate degree in related field and minimum five years professional field related experience. Previous successful college teaching. Demonstrated proficiency in area of musical expertise. Strong commitment to inclusivity and diversity, and ability to interact effectively with diverse cultures and ethnic groups. Ability to network with community organizations and programs to develop partnerships for the benefit of students, faculty, and the university. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Other Qualifications: Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU’s winter break, if necessary. Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy. Able to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, and weekends. Able to teach classes at multiple locations on Oahu. Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills. Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions: Develop syllabi in line with model syllabi, assigned textbooks, and department, college, and university policies (8%) Prepare individual classes; maintain records of student progress and assign grades (72%) Hold office hours and respond to student questions (1 hour/course) (12%) Participate in training sessions (3%) Perform other related duties as assigned (5%) Actively participates as an effective member of team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.
