Role: We are seeking a Building Engineer who will be responsible for providing specialized support for all building systems maintenance and facility operations of our Boston Market. This includes a focus on identifying equipment reliability opportunities and improving quality. The role demands time spent on the ground, living the business with extreme detail orientation, while also requiring analytically rigorous strategic thinking to guide the Kasa leadership teams. This role will report to the Operations Manager and work closely with the Boston Portfolio team. About the Team: This role is in our Portfolio Operations department. Day in the life: Like any ops role, you should expect to have a number of competing priorities in a given day or week. This position relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals with a wide degree of autonomy, creativity, and cost‑effectiveness. Responsibilities Actively provide technical engineering support for the on‑site team regarding operation, improvements, replacements, and/or upgrades for building systems and equipment. Identify and recommend potential building systems–related projects. Lead efforts involving preventative maintenance requirements, process improvements, standards review, troubleshooting, equipment selection, and service vendors. Direct capital projects such as major design changes, performance and process improvement changes, and reliability analysis and related improvements. Assist the Boston Operations Manager with reviewing price quotes for the procurement of parts, services, and labor for ongoing property maintenance and special projects. Understand existing elevator and fire/life safety systems maintenance, make recommendations for process or capital improvements, and assist in project management of modernization of any of these systems. Maintain records related to property permits, licenses and environmental requirements. Experience Minimum 4 years of experience providing facilities support in the commercial, multi‑family, or hospitality industry. Strong working knowledge of all building systems including but not limited to MEP, commissioning, life and fire safety, elevator modernization, HVAC, and other centralized systems. Data‑driven mindset, with metrics on your mind, and ability to interpret and analyze financial and non‑financial data. High level of independence and ability to make thoughtful decisions in fast‑paced and ambiguous environments. Obsessive about clear documentation of learnings, and approach problems with scalability mindset. Clear and empathetic communicator, able to deliver impactful presentations to senior leaders and daily operations staff. Excellent time‑management skills and ability to juggle multiple time‑sensitive projects simultaneously. Comfortable lifting items up to 50 pounds. The Pay: The starting base pay for this role is $70,000 and is set based on multiple considerations. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified. This role may also be eligible for equity, bonus, perks, benefits, and Kasa Travel Credits.
