Teller (Full Time) - Houston, Medical Center Perform numerous functions including processing deposits, withdrawals, cashing negotiable items, processing loan payments, savings bonds, and cashier’s checks while promoting the bank’s products and services and providing excellent customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Represent the bank in a courteous and professional manner. Receive and process deposits. Receive and process loan payments. Cash checks and other negotiable instruments for clients. Examine documents for endorsements and negotiability. Process transfers between accounts. Sell traveler’s checks, official checks, and money orders. Process credit card cash advances. Verify and balance cash daily. Detect and resolve discrepancies promptly. Offer other bank products to meet customer needs and strengthen relationships. Maintain no more than one proof error within 30 days. Follow teller procedures consistently and adhere to compliance requirements. Other duties as assigned. Ensure client requests and inquiries are promptly resolved. Operate online teller terminal. Maintain privacy of customer information. Ensure the bank’s quality reputation is maintained and projected. Assist area personnel as required. Assist with training or orientation as needed. Inform supervisor of area activities and any problems. Complete required reports and records accurately and promptly. Attend meetings and training classes; may be held on weekdays, evenings, and/or Saturdays. Perform night drop functions as assigned. Perform related clerical duties as assigned. Keep work areas clean, secure, and well maintained. Cross‑sell bank products and services.PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
Teller functions are performed efficiently, effectively, and accurately in accordance with established policies, standards, and security procedures. Cash is balanced and discrepancies promptly resolved. A balancing record that meets established standards is maintained. Good business relations exist with clients; client problems and inquiries are courteously and promptly resolved. Good working relationships and coordination exist with area personnel and management; assistance is provided as needed. Required reports and records are accurate, complete, and timely. Consistently strives to develop new client relationships as well as strengthen existing ones by identifying opportunities to sell bank products and services. The bank’s professional reputation is maintained and conveyed.QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: High school graduate or equivalent. Required Knowledge: Understanding of bank operations preferred. Required Knowledge Proficiencies: Mentor Program, all required training and webinars in 90‑day plan, GS3 Program, Precision, Integrated Teller – advanced functions (split, cash advance, CC, etc.), CTR/MIL understanding, IVIEW, Product Knowledge, SCO, ATM Balancing, WITS/Wires – minimum domestic, Risk Management Skill, Dual Control. Experience Required: At least one year of related experience/cash handling preferred; previous teller experience preferred. Skills/Abilities: Good communication skills, professional appearance, dress, and attitude, good math skills, good typing skills, ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment including adding machine, typewriter, copy machine, coin and money counting machines, and telephone. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION Talking: Frequently convey detailed instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly. Average Hearing: Hear average or normal conversations. Finger Dexterity: Use fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up objects. Repetitive Motion: Frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements. Average Visual Abilities: Visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machinery. Physical Strength: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exert up to 10–25 lbs of force occasionally. No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and deal with problems involving a few variables. Mathematics Ability: Perform basic math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percentages, and draw and interpret graphs. Language Ability: Use a passive vocabulary of 5,000–6,000 words; read at a slow rate; define unfamiliar words. Write complex sentences with proper punctuation; communicate in complex sentences with good vocabulary.WORK SCHEDULE
