Logistics Administrator

Location: Lincoln, NE
Pay Rate: $46-$48 per hour
Contract Length: 6 Months, possibility for extension and hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (Onsite)
Overtime: Must be available to work overtime during peak harvest seasons as business needs require.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented  Logistics Administrator to support transportation operations by ensuring the efficient movement of products and materials from origin to destination. The  Logistics Administrator will play a critical role in carrier management, transportation planning, freight rate administration, shipment execution, and logistics data management. This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid understanding of transportation and freight markets.

The ideal  Logistics Administrator will collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party carriers to optimize transportation costs, maintain service levels, and support overall supply chain efficiency. The  Logistics Administrator will also maintain transportation systems, manage freight-related data, and provide market-based transportation insights to support business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Carrier Management

• Support transportation carrier management strategies through carrier relationship management, capacity planning, shipment execution, and transportation spend management.
• Negotiate freight rates with carriers to ensure competitive pricing and cost-effective transportation solutions.
• Maximize load optimization opportunities, including backhaul strategies, to improve transportation efficiency.
• Assist in managing third-party carrier relationships and maintain high levels of carrier performance.
• Communicate customer and shipping requirements effectively with transportation providers.

Logistics Coordination & Analysis

• Analyze transportation processes and identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings.
• Research freight market trends and provide transportation insights to internal stakeholders.
• Resolve transportation-related issues independently while ensuring timely shipment execution.
• Serve as a transportation resource for freight rates, carrier capabilities, and market conditions.
• Monitor transportation performance and recommend corrective actions when service levels are not met.

Systems & Data Management

• Maintain transportation management systems (TMS), including rate updates, contract information, volume forecasts, and carrier records.
• Monitor carrier performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Update databases, spreadsheets, and transportation records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Investigate and resolve freight invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
• Generate reports and provide transportation data to support decision-making.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Experience in logistics, transportation coordination, freight management, supply chain, or carrier relations.
• Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Experience working with transportation management systems (TMS).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Grain commodity trading experience.
• Experience with freight pricing, carrier negotiations, and transportation markets.
• Knowledge of truckload transportation operations and logistics planning.
• Experience managing transportation data, freight invoices, and carrier performance metrics.
