Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown unit position requiring Level I Trauma experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

Step-down/Med-Surg overflow unit in a Level I Trauma Center, short-term acute care hospital

Team nursing model with a 1:12 ratio split among 2 RNs, 2 LPNs, a med nurse, and a charge nurse

Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00), with scheduling possibly changing based on staffing needs

On-call required as needed

Weekend rotation required as needed; weekend block schedule may be considered

Floating may occur between like units and campuses within a 20-mile radius

Epic and Cerner charting experience preferred

Requirements

Active RN license (TN or compact in compliance with NLC guidelines) required; pending licenses not accepted

BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred

Minimum 2 years of recent experience required, 3+ years preferred

ADN accepted; BSN only required for specific specialty or float pool positions

Level I Trauma Center experience required

Large hospital experience required

Prior travel assignment experience required; first-time travelers not accepted

Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Teaching and community hospital experience preferred

Strong skill set in neurological/psychiatric, respiratory, cardiac telemetry, and GI/GU care preferred

Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

Provide direct patient care in a Stepdown unit supporting neuro, cardiac, and medical-surgical overflow patients

Monitor and manage telemetry, respiratory, and neurological conditions including CVA, TBI, and post-neurosurgical care

Administer medications and manage drips per facility protocols

Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to be considered; no local candidates accepted

All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted prior to offer, as post-offer RTO requests will not be honored

If Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's all fall within the assignment, must work 2 of the 3 holidays; if only 2 holidays fall within the assignment, must work at least 1

Former permanent staff or travelers must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning

Vaccination status and certification renewal plans must be provided if certifications expire during the assignment
