Grants Manager

Overview Team Lead – Grants Financial Management at Success Academy. This role oversees core financial and accounting aspects of the grants and government funding lifecycle, ensuring accurate reporting and continuous process improvement. Responsibilities Process Improvement & Financial Controls: Oversee core financial and accounting aspects of private grants and government funding lifecycle. Maintain adequate accounting records and comprehensive controls. Identify opportunities for process simplification and automation. Help re‑engineer and develop best‑in‑practice grants accounting process, ensuring proper documentation for all revenue streams. Ensure all key financial controls for the grants function are operating effectively. Financial Reporting & Budgeting: Manage upfront financial budget development process. Implement and train employees on improved tagging processes, specifically expense coding. Ensure appropriate tagging and utilization of all grant funding. Prepare regular financial reports on funds tagged and utilization. Identify opportunities to secure funding for untagged expenses/programs. Conduct due diligence on untagged expenditures to determine eligibility under restricted grants. Monitor receipt of all grant payments. Assess adequacy of revenue recognition and interpret complex US GAAP topics such as ASC 606. Provide necessary documentation to support month‑end closing. Audit & Funding Support: Serve as financial subject matter expert for existing and potential government grants regarding budget oversight and financial reporting. Develop documentation for budget narratives, program explanations, and spend. Work closely with year‑end auditors on financial statement reviews and respond timely to audit requests related to grant financials. Qualifications 6+ years of experience, with at least 3 years in accounting/finance for grants and government funding. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance. Experience with charter schools is a bonus. Strong financial acumen and grasp of non‑profit accounting nuances. Collaborative, hands‑on, results‑oriented, and innovative professional with integrity. Change agent with experience driving financial process improvements. Clear communicator, able to craft and deliver messages to multiple constituencies at all levels (including the CFO). Proven partnership abilities and experience working with diverse groups on financial projects. Expertise in prioritizing projects, problem‑solving, meeting deadlines, initiating follow‑through, and displaying strict attention to detail. Analytically grounded, able to actualize ideas through execution. Track record of success in complex, fast‑paced, creative, and rapidly changing environments. Compensation and Benefits Salary: $120,000 – $140,000 USD. This position is not bonus eligible. Success Academy offers a full benefits program and opportunities for professional growth.
