FOOD UNIT LEAD (FULL TIME)

Overview We are hiring immediately for full-time FOOD UNIT LEAD positions located at East Lansing Public Schools, 501 Burcham Drive, East Lansing, MI 48823. Online applications are accepted only. Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Perks include starting in August for the 2026-2027 school year, on-the-job training, a working school calendar, and no nights, holidays, or weekends. Pay Range: $18.00 per hour to $22.00 per hour. Requirement: Previous food service experience is required. Internal Employee Referral Bonus Available Job Summary Coordinates activities of other food-service employees and creates an enjoyable dining experience for customers, staff and visitors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide quality customer service with attention to detail. Oversee and participate in the preparation and service of food and beverages in accordance with presentation, sanitation, safety, and portion-control standards. Assist with menu planning. Ensure timely, efficient meal service and supervise serving of meals. Respond to customer complaints in person or via email. Train employees and coordinate work to promote efficiency and excellence in food and service. Determine work procedures, prepare schedules, and expedite workflow. Maintain required daily/weekly/monthly reports (inventory, cash, production, payroll, time-keeping). Handle cash according to Food Accounting Manual guidelines (deposits, petty cash, change funds). Order food and supplies from approved sources. Ensure sanitation and safety compliance of the facility and staff. Develop sanitation schedules and ensure adherence to kitchen and dining area cleaning requirements. Issue written and oral instructions and assist in selecting and orienting employees; supervise training. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous food service experience is required.
