Work Environment

As a remote position tailored for a school setting, the work environment allows for flexibility while focusing on the needs of students and their families. You will collaborate with educators, school administrators, and other healthcare professionals to deliver integrated behavioral health services. The structure of the workweek is designed to promote a healthy work-life balance with a focus on productivity; expect to work Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with no evenings or weekends required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of mental health needs for students, develop individualized treatment plans, and coordinate comprehensive behavioral health services.
  • Provide ongoing psychotherapy, including crisis intervention as necessary, to support clients in navigating their mental health challenges.
  • Maintain effective communication with members of the multidisciplinary team, including primary care providers and school staff, to ensure seamless patient care and intervention.
  • Uphold and implement organizational policies and procedures concerning mental health practices, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and legal requirements.
  • Facilitate timely evaluations and intakes, providing respectful and professional care to all individuals seeking services.
  • Manage referrals for specialized treatment for patients displaying serious mental health conditions, ensuring they receive the appropriate level of care.
  • Implement screening protocols for substance abuse, and provide targeted counseling or referrals as required, working to connect clients with essential community resources.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on students and their families within the educational environment. You'll work with adolescents facing a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral problems, and other emotional disturbances. Your work aims to empower these individuals, helping them develop essential coping strategies that foster resilience and lasting change.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in Counseling or Social Work from an accredited institution is required.
  • A current and valid LCSW license to practice in California.
  • Demonstrated clinical skills and the ability to operate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong crisis intervention skills and the ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for effective interactions with both clients and administration.
  • Proficient in using electronic health record systems to manage patient data and documentation.
  • A commitment to cultural competency and working effectively with a diverse clientele.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with youth in a community mental health, school, or similar setting.
  • Familiarity with the challenges faced by students and families in an educational environment.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal behavioral health programs and resources.
  • Experience providing counseling for substance abuse and connecting patients to multi-disciplinary resources.

Compensation and Benefits
