Oncology Physician

the client seeks a nationally recognized, dynamic, and visionary leader to serve as Section Chief of Medical Oncology and Hematology and Deputy Director for Clinical Affairs. In this dual role, the leader will provide academic advancement, mentorship, and career development for faculty within one of the largest and most complex sections in the client’s Department of Medicine, while supporting and engaging clinicians across multiple specialties and multiple sites. The position is designed to connect clinical excellence, research innovation, and faculty development within an expanding academic clinical enterprise. The section will lead a large, multi-site clinical and academic program overseeing close to 130 faculty members, including clinical faculty, clinical trialists, physician-scientists, and research scientists distributed across the client’s health system sites. The section’s faculty deliver cancer care and treat a substantial portion of patients, with disease-specific centers of excellence statewide and opportunities to pioneer innovative approaches across diverse communities and care settings. The role also supports an active research and education mission, including a fellowship program that recruits fellows annually, and leverages integrated inpatient and outpatient care to advance patient care, research, and therapy development. The Section Chief will be a respected physician and successful researcher with a deep commitment to the tripartite mission, including optimizing clinical care; advancing discovery, translational, clinical, and health services research; mentoring faculty and fellows; and guiding administrative priorities. The leader will partner closely with clinical and operational leaders across relevant academic and cancer care entities, and will report to the client’s Director of the cancer center and the Chair of Internal Medicine. Through these responsibilities, the role will help sustain and grow clinical excellence, clinical research, and faculty development in medical oncology and hematology.
