RN-Emergency Department Triage nurse Part time

WI-Waupun Memorial Hospital Worker – Regular Our 8‑bed ED is a fast‑paced department where nurses handle the initial phase of acute illness or trauma. 3 nurses cover days and into PMs, and 2 cover nights. Schedule Monday and Tuesday 9a.m.–5p.m.; every third weekend 7a.m.–7p.m. Shift Differential Pay Evening shift: $2.25; Night shift and weekend shift: $3.15. A year of medical–surgical experience is preferred. Job Summary Provides direct nursing care in settings where patients require complex assessments and interventions, in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. Job Responsibilities Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the health‑care consumer’s health and/or situation. Triages each consumer using age, developmentally appropriate, and culturally sensitive practices to prioritize and optimize flow, expediting those requiring immediate care. Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis or issues. Identifies expected outcomes for an individualized plan. Implements, coordinates, and educates to promote health and a safe practice environment. Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes. Communicates effectively in a variety of formats in all areas of practice. Demonstrates leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession. Attains knowledge and competence that reflect current nursing practice. Applies evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge to emergency nursing practice. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing. Experience: No experience required. Physical Requirements Constant use of speech for oral communication. Constant standing and walking; frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25lb. Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry; frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20in. or less) and far (20ft. or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors; frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25–50lb; occasional lifting/moving of patients; occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements; occasional driving; rare crawling and running.
