Equipment Operator

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating various types of heavy machinery to assist in the construction of utility-scale solar projects. This role involves ensuring the safe and efficient operation of equipment to move materials, prepare sites, and support the overall construction process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and forklifts.
• Maneuver equipment to ensure accurate removal and placement of materials.
• Clear and prepare construction sites by removing debris, rocks, and other materials.
• Level and grade land to ensure proper foundation for solar installations.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Report any mechanical issues or repairs needed to the maintenance team.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and always follow safety guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with site supervisors and other team members to coordinate tasks.
• Assist in the setup and dismantling of equipment as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and inspections.
• Complete daily logs and reports as required.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

• Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, often weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
• Standing and Walking: Prolonged periods of standing and walking across uneven terrain.
• Climbing: Climbing ladders and scaffolding to access different parts of the installation.
• Bending and Stooping: Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to install and inspect components.
• Manual Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling tools and small components.
• Weather Conditions: Working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
• Safety Gear: Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in the construction or renewable energy industry.
• Valid third party heavy equipment operator's license or certification.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with utility-scale solar projects is preferred.
