Job DescriptionAre you looking for your next opportunity?Sompo has a unique opportunity for a SeniorUnderwriter in our E&S Property team.Our E&S Property team considers all types of commercial occupancies for catastrophe protection based on individual risk characteristics. We entertain single location risks as well as large schedules of locations and consider risks throughout the US including those located in both catastrophe prone and non-catastrophe prone areas.Location:This position will be based out of our New York, NY; Morristown, NJ: Alpharetta, GA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX and Conshohocken, PA areas. We strive for collaboration, which is why we offer a work environment where our employees thrive and develop long-lasting careers.Our business, your impact, our opportunity:What you’ll be doing:Reviews applications and financial requirements to determine acceptability of risk in accordance with Endurance guidelines and standardsUnderstands pricing components and rating methodology as well as use of the predictive modelling tools; prices risk based on financial and competitive analysisUses all appropriate underwriting tools, disciplines and knowledge of strategies to ensure underwriting guidelines are followedDemonstrates technical underwriting skills through strategic, thorough account reviews and file documentationPrepares or analyses information on adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status and declinations in order to drive results within the assigned territoryAdheres to CAT guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and appropriately priceKeeps current on state/territory issues, regulations and trendsWhat you’ll bring:Minimum of 5 years of insurance underwriting experience; emphasis on Manufacturing / Industrial occupancies preferredBachelor’s Degree preferredExperience in working, producing, and underwriting all sizes of accounts with the large brokerage houses, wholesalers, and specialty retailersExperience successfully underwriting, quoting, and binding profitable businessRelationships with large brokers on both a regional and national levelStrong attention to detail & negotiation skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsTeam player and collaborative by natureSalary Range: $100,000 – $170,000Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.At Sompo, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success.
