Day in the Life

Step onto the floor, gear up, and check your work area. A press operator flags a stamping die that isn’t nesting right—your cue. You head to the press, diagnose the issue with precision tools, and make an in-press adjustment. Later, you move to the toolroom to rebuild components, TIG/MIG weld worn tool steel, and polish die details to reduce future wear. Throughout the shift, you coordinate with production and maintenance, verify tolerances, and keep safety and OSHA compliance front and center.

What You’ll Handle

• Follow all safety, environmental, and OSHA regulations while performing duties.
• Troubleshoot and repair stamping dies both in the press and within the toolroom.
• Analyze specifications and lay out metal stock for tooling repairs or modifications.
• Set up and operate machine tools to repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
• Assemble and fit parts using machines and hand tools to build, repair, or modify tooling.
• Perform TIG/MIG welding when repairing or rebuilding tool steel components.
• Spot and polish die details to ensure proper nesting and reduce wear on high-contact surfaces.
• Verify dimensions, alignments, and tolerances using calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators.
• Interpret blueprints, GD&T specifications, sketches, and models.
• Maintain effective communication with production and maintenance teams.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

What You Bring

• Journeyman Tool and Die certification preferred.
• Minimum four years of related experience or completion of an approved trade school program.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, including GD&T.
• Experience using precision measurement tools and machinist equipment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Pay & Perks

• 2nd Shift premium: $2.00/hour
• 3rd Shift premium: $1.50/hour
• Skilled Trades Premium: $2.50/hour for 2nd and 3rd shift (in addition to shift premium)

• Frequently lift or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing setting with moving mechanical parts and stamping equipment.
• Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical equipment.
• Noise levels may be high; hearing protection is required and provided.
