Food Service at Parkland Middle School

Reports to: Director of Food Service

Terms of Employment: 174 days starting 08/19/2026

Minimum Qualifications/Required Skills:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Food Sanitation Certification required (will help obtain) and previous experience in large scale food preparation preferred
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Flexibility and ability to work in a fast paced environment, often with strict deadlines
• Ability to read, write, follow recipes and calculate quantities using simple math along with knowledge of operating a personal computer and related software
• Capability to prepare daily food menu along with completing inventory, production records and daily sheets
• Ability to communicate respectfully to staff, children and coworkers while working effectively as a member of a team
• Maintain the highest standard of sanitation and safety according to HACCP principles, the state of Illinois and Local Health Departments

Pay and Benefits:

$16.50/hour starting. Full health insurance program with major medical. Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF Pension). Paid time off.
