The Department of Medicine, specifically the Division of Cardiology, at our organization is on the lookout for a board-eligible or board-certified cardiologist specializing in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant (AHFT) to enhance our expanding academic Advanced Heart Failure Program. The ideal candidate will become part of a well-established team comprising 7 Advanced Heart Failure cardiologists and 3 surgeons specializing in cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory support, all dedicated to delivering comprehensive care for patients facing advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock, heart transplants, and mechanical circulatory support.

We encourage applications from both recent graduates of an ACGME-accredited Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology fellowship and seasoned AHFT cardiologists. The academic appointment will be determined at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level, based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.

This role offers a diverse academic practice in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology, encompassing both inpatient and outpatient advanced heart failure management, heart transplantation, durable and temporary mechanical circulatory support, cardiogenic shock treatment, hemodynamic evaluations, and multidisciplinary assessments for advanced therapies.

Faculty members will engage in the specialized Advanced Heart Failure inpatient service, outpatient Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant clinics, selection conferences for transplants and LVADs, and the education of cardiovascular disease fellows, residents, and medical students.

There are opportunities to cultivate specific clinical or academic interests in areas such as heart transplantation, LVAD/MCS, cardiogenic shock, pulmonary hypertension, cardio-oncology, adult congenital heart disease, clinical research, quality improvement, donor utilization, and transplant innovation. Protected academic time will be allocated for teaching, research, quality improvement, and other scholarly pursuits aligned with the candidate's interests and career aspirations.

• 3 cardiac surgeons specializing in heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support procedures.
• Over 400 heart transplants conducted since the program's inception.
• An established DCD heart transplantation program, featuring Normothermic Regional Perfusion (NRP).
• Utilization of advanced heart preservation and transport technologies.
• One of the largest durable LVAD programs in the region, with more than 1,000 durable LVAD implantations.
• Approximately 300 patients currently supported with durable LVADs.
• A dedicated 22-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit staffed by cardiac critical care intensivists.
• A specialized Advanced Heart Failure inpatient service.
• Comprehensive capabilities for temporary MCS and cardiogenic shock management.
• A highly skilled multidisciplinary team of transplant and LVAD APPs, coordinators, pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, rehabilitation specialists, quality and regulatory professionals, and data specialists.

Our organization serves as a prominent academic and quaternary referral center, catering to patients across Upstate and Western New York and beyond. The Division of Cardiology features over 70 cardiologists specializing in various fields, including advanced heart failure, transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, structural heart disease, cardiovascular imaging, cardio-oncology, pulmonary vascular disease, preventive cardiology, and women's cardiovascular health.

Faculty members have access to opportunities for clinical, translational, and basic science research through the Clinical Cardiovascular Research Center, Clinical & Translational Science Institute, and Aab Cardiovascular Research Institute. This position provides avenues for career advancement in clinical excellence, education, research, program development, and academic leadership. Mentorship will be available for junior faculty and recent AHFT fellowship graduates.

• M.D. Degree or equivalent.
• Must secure a New York State Medical License prior to the start date.
• Eligible for a Faculty Appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
• Must fulfill all credentialing requirements.
• Eligible for Board Certification in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.
• Post-offer drug screening and health assessment required.
• Compliance with University and New York State health regulations.
