Senior Litigation Counsel - Medical Malpractice Defense | $175K-$200K+

Furman Kornfeld & Brennan LLP , a well-established, mid-sized New York litigation defense firm, is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Attorney to help lead our Medical Malpractice and Healthcare Defense practice.

In this role, you'll work directly with firm leadership, guide and develop attorneys at various stages of their careers, and remain actively involved in complex and high-exposure medical malpractice matters.

As a Senior Attorney, you'll combine hands-on litigation with attorney supervision and practice leadership.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing and managing complex medical malpractice and healthcare defense litigation.
• Supervising, mentoring, and supporting attorneys at various experience levels.
• Providing strategic guidance on case development, litigation planning, and resolution.
• Reviewing significant motions, depositions, expert issues, and trial strategies.
• Handling case intake, preparation of responsive pleadings, and assignment of matters.
• Personally managing high-exposure cases, including depositions, substantive motion practice, and trial preparation.
• Conducting case reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and effective case management.
• Training and developing attorneys in litigation skills, courtroom advocacy, and client communication.
• Working closely with firm leadership to maintain high standards of legal representation and client service.

We're seeking an accomplished litigator who brings strong legal skills, sound judgment, and a genuine interest in leading and developing others.

Ideal candidates will have:

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
• Significant civil litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice defense.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or providing guidance to other attorneys.
• Strong knowledge of New York litigation practice, including discovery, depositions, substantive motions, expert issues, and trial preparation.
• Excellent legal writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and client-management abilities.
• The ability to balance hands-on litigation responsibilities with attorney supervision and strategic oversight.

Medical malpractice defense experience is strongly preferred. Trial experience is a plus.
