Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced MRI Technologist for a weekend contract assignment in New York, NY. The MRI Technologist will operate specialized MRI equipment, perform diagnostic imaging procedures, position patients appropriately, and ensure high-quality images are obtained according to established protocols and patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform MRI imaging procedures according to established protocols.

• Properly position patients and MRI coils to obtain optimal diagnostic images.

• Educate patients about MRI procedures, safety requirements, and instructions.

• Review MRI safety screening questionnaires before entering the scan room.

• Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure timely transmission to PACS.

• Accurately label and complete MRI studies in the Radiology Information System (RIS/IDX).

• Maintain MRI room cleanliness, supplies, and equipment.

• Maintain accurate patient tracking and exam information.

• Schedule exams in IDX/RIS as required.

• Follow strict MRI safety procedures and prevent unauthorized ferromagnetic materials from entering the scan room.

• Assist physicians and other clinical staff as needed.

• Follow infection-control and patient-safety standards.

• Report equipment issues or unsafe conditions promptly.

• Perform related clerical and departmental duties as required.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of a JRCERT-approved School of Radiologic Technology .

• Valid New York State Radiologic Technologist (LRT) License .

• ARRT certification .

• Strong knowledge of:

  • MRI physics

  • Cross-sectional anatomy

  • Physical sciences

  • Physiology

• Strong MRI technical skills and knowledge of established imaging protocols.

• Excellent patient-care and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of MRI experience preferred.

• Hospital-based MRI experience is highly desirable.

• Experience with PACS and Radiology Information Systems (RIS/IDX) is a plus.
