Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Supervises and coordinates patient care activities, ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate treatment as patients transition from surgical procedures to recovery.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient vital signs and recovery status continuously to identify any complications.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient assessments and recovery progress.
• Collaborate with surgical teams and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care during the recovery process.
• Educate patients and family members on post-operative care, discharge instructions, and recovery expectations.
• Delegate appropriate tasks to nursing staff and support team members to maintain optimal workflow.
• Document all patient interactions, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical records.

Qualifications:

• Current RN licensure in the practicing state.
• Proven experience in perioperative or PACU nursing preferred.
• BLS certification from an approved vendor; ACLS certification preferred.
• Strong critical thinking and assessment skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Excellent communication and patient education skills.
