Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse for a Medical-Surgical unit at MVHS-Wynn, located on the 6th Floor in Utica, New York. This role involves providing comprehensive care to adult patients with a diverse range of medical and post-surgical conditions.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in managing patients recovering from various procedures, including those related to abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and bariatric surgery. This position requires a commitment to patient-centered care within a dynamic hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
• Manage post-surgical patients, monitoring recovery and addressing potential complications.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, utilizing specialized equipment such as IV pumps, Nasogastric (NG) tubes, and feeding tubes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record system.
• Float to other units as required by staffing needs.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in a Medical-Surgical (MS) setting.
• Prior travel nursing experience.
• Ability to work on-site in Utica, New York.
