MRI Technologist-PRN

Job Duties Accountable for the positioning and immobilization of patients and proper selection of technical factors along with computer reformatting of acquired data to obtain magnetic resonance scans of optimal quality. Select appropriate technical factors on an individual patient and procedural basis to provide optimal quality examinations. Perform post processing of computer data to enhance data and image information. Operate support equipment for MRI, including independent workstations, additional disc drives, pressure injectors, patient monitoring systems, and PACS. Transfer patients to and from the MRI scanning table and prepare them for examination by explaining the procedure and answering any questions they may have. Initiate IVs for administration of contrast media for MRI enhancement in accordance with departmental policy and utilizing universal precautions. Secure pertinent history from the patient, patient’s chart, or family member to provide the radiologist with adequate information for examination interpretation and to ensure procedural criteria are met. Assist in obtaining confidential history of the patient, including documentation of lab values and allergy screening to ensure appropriateness of the patient for examination and to ensure proper administration of contrast agents during required procedures. Maintain magnetic safety standards. Obtain documentation for department records related to patient statistics, supplies, billing information, and preservation of patient records: document patient history, charge data, modify and initiate charges per procedure modifications, document allergic reactions or incident reports regarding staff or patient situations, provide timely information for inventory of supplies, and assist in scheduling of examinations. Education / Experience Required Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program. Three years of experience as an MRI Technologist or graduate of a certificate program in MRI Technology. ARRT credential with experience in drafting imaging protocols. Experience with the ACR accreditation process. #J-18808-Ljbffr
