Staples Mill Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our team and support both outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry.

We are seeking a versatile, client-focused technician who thrives in a dynamic general practice environment — balancing exam room care, client communication, and hands-on procedural support. We value credentialed technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital, helping elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care.

This role is ideal for technicians who enjoy variety in their day, are confident moving between exam room and procedure support, and want to fully utilize their clinical knowledge, technical skillset, and client communication abilities in a collaborative, jump-in-and-help environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
• Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
• Assisting in surgery
• Performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
• Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation
• Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
• Identifying patient concerns and supporting efficient case management across the hospital
• Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service

Schedule and compensation:

• Compensation: $32 - 36 per hour, for each hour worked
• This is a full-time position, with a 5/8 schedule and availability needed Monday-Friday - NO WEEKENDS, NO ON-CALLS.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

• 3+ years of veterinary technician experience
• Active and good-standing Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of Virginia **
• Proficiency in the following skills:
• Patient assessment, nursing care, and monitoring
• Anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery
• Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
• Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement
• Medication administration and accurate drug calculations
• Laboratory sample collection and in-house diagnostic testing
• Accurate medical record documentation
• Client education and communication

**Recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply
