Full Time Security Officer

FT - SecurityThe position is within the Security department and reports to the Chief of Security. It is an hourly non-exempt role.The job description entails ensuring the safety and security of all hotel guests and employees, aiming for 100% guest satisfaction. The compensation is $15.00 per hour.The summary of the position includes:Following all procedures for proper patrolling and reporting of hotel and groundsPatrolling the parking lotPatrolling the guestroom tower and conference center areaEnsuring all areas are secureFollowing all lost and found procedures and ensuring all hotel associates are doing the same through continuous training and follow upEnsuring the safety of all guests and employees through safety checksPerforming checks on fire extinguishersPerforming checks on the safety operation of machineryAlways looking for any safety hazards and correcting them immediatelyBeing involved in the Safety CommitteeMaintaining and overseeing the proper Key Control policies for the hotelEvaluating and assisting in handling all hotel emergencies, necessitating a complete understanding of all emergency systems, including alarm systems and the fire control roomResponding to all guest and employee incidents/accidents with appropriate emergency actionInvestigating and reporting all such incidents in a timely manner with proper documentationAlways having the knowledge and operating functions of all alarm doors, elevator-reset keys, and fire panel proceduresKeeping the immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance which require corrective actionCommunicating closely with the Night Manager and the Front Office Manager on any pertinent information concerning the safety and security of the hotelConducting and/or attending meetings as requiredPreparing reports as requested to develop an informative database for improved management decision making and critical evaluation of work activitiesPerforming all accountabilities in a professional, timely, and efficient manner, following established company policy and projecting a favorable image to achieve objectives, public recognition, and acceptance as the preferred hotel companyPerforming all other duties as requested or required to insure the smooth operation of the entire hotelEssential functions include:Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and co-workersProlonged periods of standing and/or walkingAbility to climb stairs frequentlyAbility to respond quickly in the event of an emergency to physically assist guests and staff as deemed necessary by the event, which may require the ability to move quickly from one end of the property to another using stairs to gain access, evacuate the building during a fire drill, respond to medical emergencies and other emergency events that may be physically demandingAbility to visually check work, work area, and hotel spaceMinimum lifting of 30 poundsOther requirements include:Knowledge of English and local languageAbility to deal with the public in a professional and courteous mannerAbility to deal with guests, associates, and others with security techniques to address issues in a safe and secure mannerAbility to communicate with all managers, supervisors, and fellow associatesAbility to handle conflict situations in a professional mannerBeing well groomed and conforming to the hotel's dress codeAbility to secure team buy in to comply with hotel policies and proceduresMaintain safety by adhering to safety policies, being responsible to report all accidents immediately. Support all safety programs. Proceed with caution when walking on slippery floors.
