Job Title: Quality Specialist Job DescriptionThe Quality Specialist is responsible for supporting quality assurance activities through detailed documentation control, auditing, receiving inspection, and inspection record management. This role is heavily office-based and focuses on ensuring quality records, controlled documents, and inspection data are accurate, complete, and properly maintained. The Quality Specialist performs visual and receiving inspections of incoming materials, supports internal audits, tracks calibration records, and helps ensure compliance with quality standards and procedures. This position plays a key role in maintaining organized quality systems, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring documentation accuracy across the organization.
Responsibilities- Perform receiving inspections of incoming materials, components, and products using established inspection criteria and procedures.
- Conduct visual inspections to verify product conformity, workmanship, labeling, and documentation requirements.
- Review inspection paperwork, certificates of conformity, and supporting quality documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain controlled document files, quality records, inspection reports, and audit documentation in an organized and timely manner.
- Ensure quality documents are properly filed, archived, and retained in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
- Conduct process and system audits using written procedures as audit standards and accurately document audit findings.
- Assist with internal audit preparation and support corrective action follow-up activities.
- Enter, review, and maintain quality data within electronic databases, spreadsheets, and document management systems.
- Support the review, development, and revision of standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality documentation.
- Coordinate calibration records and monitor calibration status of inspection and test equipment.
- Communicate nonconformances and quality concerns to appropriate personnel and assist in the investigation process.
- Generate quality reports, inspection summaries, and audit records using Microsoft Excel, Word, and related software applications.
- Perform basic dimensional inspections using measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers when required, though the position is primarily focused on visual inspection and documentation activities.
- Support quality assurance and quality control initiatives by maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with established procedures.
- 2+ years of quality experience in a quality assurance, quality control, receiving inspection, or documentation-focused environment preferred.
- Experience performing receiving inspections and visual inspections using established quality criteria.
- Strong experience with documentation control, record management, and maintaining quality-related files.
- Ability to conduct and document audits using written procedures and quality standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and other computer-based quality systems.
- Experience entering, tracking, and maintaining data in electronic databases and document management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in documentation, records, and inspected materials.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple records, files, and priorities simultaneously.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and collaborating with internal teams.
- Basic knowledge of quality inspection tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Ability to read and interpret procedures, specifications, and quality documentation.
- ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification preferred or experience participating in ISO-based audits.
- Experience supporting quality management systems and documentation control processes.
- Familiarity with receiving inspection processes and supplier documentation review.
- Experience preparing, maintaining, and auditing quality records and controlled documents.
- Knowledge of corrective action processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience working within manufacturing, aerospace, or regulated quality environments is preferred.
- Strong computer skills and comfort working in electronic quality management systems.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and accountability.
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and controlled documentation.

Work EnvironmentThis position is primarily office-based with regular interaction on the production floor and receiving areas to perform visual and receiving inspections. Daily responsibilities include working extensively with computers, electronic quality systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and document management platforms. The role involves reviewing and maintaining quality records, conducting audits, processing inspection documentation, and ensuring controlled documents remain current and properly filed. Visual inspections are performed routinely, while the use of dimensional inspection tools such as calipers and micrometers is occasional. The work environment emphasizes organization, attention to detail, compliance with established procedures, and accurate documentation of quality-related activities.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
