Job Description

The Training Intern will support the Training Department with projects focused on training content, learning technology, documentation, research, and information organization. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with training programs and technology in a professional software environment.

The intern will assist with reviewing and organizing training resources, auditing training content and online learning courses, researching learning technologies and industry practices, and supporting projects that help improve how training materials are developed, maintained, and delivered.

This position is ideal for a student interested in the intersection of technology, communication, learning, information management, and training operations.

Job Responsibilities

• Audit training materials across multiple software products and jurisdictions to identify outdated, duplicate, missing, or inconsistent content and support ongoing content maintenance.

• Review software release information to identify changes that may impact training materials and resources.

• Support the review, organization, and maintenance of courses and content within the Learning Management System (LMS).

• Maintain training content inventories, catalogs, tracking tools, and organized digital resources.

• Assist with developing and maintaining training documentation, process guides, checklists, standard operating procedures, and reusable training resources.

• Conduct quality assurance reviews of training materials, including instructions, screenshots, links, exercises, and course resources.

• Research learning technologies, instructional design practices, software training trends, and other topics that support Training Department initiatives.

• Organize and review training evaluation data to help identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

• Complete assigned projects, track progress, and communicate questions, findings, and recommendations to the Training Manager.

• Perform other training-related projects and responsibilities as assigned.

  Skills & Knowledge You Will Gain

  Through hands-on projects and collaboration with the Training Department, the intern will have opportunities to develop:

  • Training & Instructional Design: Understanding of how professional training content is developed, reviewed, maintained, and improved for different audiences.

  • Learning Technology: Practical exposure to Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other technologies used to support and deliver training.

  • Technical Communication: Experience translating processes and information into clear, user-focused training and reference materials.

  • Data & Information Management: Experience organizing, analyzing, and maintaining training data, content inventories, and digital resources.

  • Software Content Management: Understanding of how software releases and product changes influence training content and ongoing content maintenance.

  • Professional Project Management: Experience managing project assignments, priorities, deadlines, research, and communication in a professional technology environment.

   

Qualifications and Schedule

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in at least an undergraduate program in Information Technology, Information Communication Technology, Information Systems, Instructional or Educational Technology, Communications, Technical Communication, Business, Information Science, or a related field.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Comfortable learning and working with software applications and technology.

• Experience using Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides.

• Ability to research information, organize findings, and communicate key takeaways.

• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet established deadlines.

• Ability to work independently after receiving direction while also collaborating with others.

• Ability to identify inconsistencies, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.

• Curiosity and willingness to learn new software, systems, and processes.

• Experience with learning management systems, Jira, instructional design, technical documentation, or training content is a plus but is not required.

• Previous election industry or election administration experience is not required.

• Must reside within the Tallahassee commuting area.

Internship Schedule & Duration

• This internship is anticipated to begin in January 2027 and continue through the Spring 2027 academic semester.

• The intern is expected to work approximately 15 hours per week, primarily Wednesday through Friday.

• Specific work hours will be coordinated based on the selected intern's class schedule and the needs of the Training Department.

• The position is on-site at the VR Systems office in Tallahassee, Florida.

• Based on performance, business needs, budget, and the intern's availability, there may be an opportunity to extend the internship through Summer 2027.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment using a computer and standard office technology.

• The position requires extended periods of sitting and working at a computer.

• Must be able to communicate effectively with team members and participate in meetings and collaborative work.

• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
