We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Production Planning Specialist to support our manufacturing operations through effective production scheduling, Manufacturing Order (MO) management, inventory planning, and ERP/MRP data management.
The Production Planning Specialist will play a key role in ensuring production is properly scheduled and aligned with customer demand, raw material availability, plant capacity, and delivery requirements. This position will create and manage Manufacturing Orders and production work orders, maintain accurate BOM and inventory information, monitor production performance, and work closely with production and cross-functional teams to resolve scheduling and workflow challenges.
This position will also serve as a backup to the Senior Production Planner and provide day-to-day support for production planning and scheduling activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesManufacturing Order & MRP ManagementCreate and generate Manufacturing Orders (MOs) for slit coils and finished goods using MRP/ERP software.
Confirm, update, and complete MOs to maintain accurate production records.
Verify that MOs are fully issued with the required raw materials.
Review and adjust Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accurate material usage and inventory transactions.
Analyze ERP/MRP data to identify discrepancies and resolve production or inventory issues.
Generate production work orders and backfill orders as required.
Maintain accurate production and inventory information within the ERP/MRP system.
Develop and maintain daily production schedules based on customer requirements, production capacity, material availability, and plant priorities.
Plan production to fulfill customer orders on or before requested delivery dates.
Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as priorities, materials, or production conditions change.
Optimize production workflows to improve efficiency and meet critical deadlines.
Assist with production resource allocation and planning.
Coordinate production priorities with manufacturing and operations teams.
Track daily production performance and efficiency.
Collect and reconcile production downtime data against system records.
Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
Monitor production schedules and identify potential delays or bottlenecks.
Track and update daily shipment information to ensure alignment between production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
Prepare and communicate production performance information as needed.
Work closely with Production, Operations, Warehouse, Materials, Shipping, and other cross-functional teams.
Help resolve production scheduling, material availability, inventory, and workflow issues.
Communicate production priorities and schedule changes effectively.
Support plant goals related to productivity, efficiency, inventory accuracy, and on-time delivery.
Serve as the direct backup to the Senior Production Planner when required.
Analyze production and MRP data to identify process inefficiencies.
Recommend improvements to production planning, scheduling, inventory accuracy, and workflow processes.
Support initiatives designed to improve production efficiency and data quality.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve recurring production and planning challenges.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing operation.
2-4 years of experience in production planning, production scheduling, manufacturing planning, materials planning, or a related manufacturing role.
Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial production environment .
Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems .
Experience with inventory management and material planning.
Understanding of production scheduling, manufacturing workflows, and production priorities.
Experience with Manufacturing Orders, Work Orders, and/or Bills of Materials (BOMs) preferred.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite .
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience with manufacturing ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics, Plex, NetSuite , or similar platforms.
Experience with BOM management and inventory reconciliation.
Experience in metal processing, steel, coil/slitting, fabrication, automotive, machinery, or other industrial manufacturing environments.
Experience with production KPI reporting and performance analysis.
Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to analyze production, inventory, and MRP data.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with production and cross-functional teams.

Ability to work effectively in both an office and manufacturing environment.
This position is based in a manufacturing facility and requires regular interaction with office personnel and shop-floor production teams.
The successful candidate should be comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment and communicating directly with production personnel, supervisors, and other departments.
