Position Overview - Multiple Openings and Levels
Our Field Service Engineers operate and maintain end-to-end solutions, systems, and products for our customers. The role investigates and resolves product and solution problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel. Candidates load software, configure, integrate, verify, and troubleshoot solutions in a lab environment or customer site using Oceus' products, 3rd party products, and/or customized packages. 

Candidate hiring tier (Staff, Senior, or Lead) will be determined during the interview process based on total years of experience, technical capability, and leadership scope. 

Universal Position Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship
• Current secret security clearance (or ability to obtain a clearance)
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science/Telecommunications or related field
• Current state-issued driver's license
• Current U.S. passport

Preferred Qualifications:
Current U.S. Government Security Clearance is preferred

Core Technical Knowledge Requirements:

• 2-10 years of related experience in communication technology, telecommunications and systems integration roles (as indicated below)
• Excellent knowledge of installation and configuration of servers, routers and switches
• Experience with wireless technologies such as LTE and GSM 

Level Breakdown & Tiered Qualifications 

Staff Level (2-4 years)

• Experience: 2–4 years of engineering experience in computer technology, telecommunications, or related systems integration roles.
• Skill Focus: Solid understanding of IP networking concepts, including routing, switching, VLANs, and network troubleshooting methodologies. Hands on experience installing and configuring computer hardware, servers, routers, switches, and related network equipment. Ability to interpret and execute technical instructions, diagrams, system architectures, and integration procedures with high accuracy. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex system issues across hardware, software, and network layers. Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially in customer interaction, technical reporting, and escalation management. Ability to operate effectively in fast paced, dynamic field environments and adapt to unexpected technical challenges. Proven teamwork skills, including collaboration with cross functional engineering groups, customers, vendors, and project teams. Strong initiative and continuous learning mindset, including developing deeper expertise in secure system implementation and advanced system integration.
• Responsibilities: Lead the installation, configuration, and end-to-end testing of customer solutions using company products and approved third-party components. Perform advanced troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network issues, providing guidance to junior engineers when needed. Oversee field deployments, ensuring accurate documentation of installation procedures, system configurations, test results, and operational issues. Implement and enforce established security and compliance procedures during system setup, maintenance, and integration activities. Serve as a primary technical point of contact for customers by delivering clear, timely updates and resolution plans. Maintain detailed and accurate service logs, issue tickets, configuration records, and customer support documentation. Contribute to continuous improvement by recommending process updates, identifying recurring issues, and supporting new solution integrations. Mentor Associate-level engineers through hands-on training, guidance, and knowledge-sharing during field and lab activities.

Senior Level (5-7 years)

• Experience: 5–7 years of engineering experience in computer technology, telecommunications, or related systems integration roles.
• Skill Focus: Expert-level understanding of IP networking, including routing protocols, switching architectures, VLAN design, QoS, and advanced troubleshooting methodologies. Extensive hands on experience installing, configuring, and optimizing servers, routers, switches, radios, and related telecommunications or networking equipment. Ability to analyze, interpret, and execute complex technical diagrams, multi system architectures, and specialized integration procedures with precision. Proven ability to diagnose and resolve deeply complex technical issues across hardware, software, network, and security layers, often in time sensitive or mission critical environments. Exceptional communication skills for customer engagement, including translating technical concepts into clear operational terms and managing escalations professionally. Strong capability to perform effectively in dynamic, high pressure field environments and adapt quickly when faced with unexpected technical or operational challenges. Demonstrated leadership in cross functional collaboration, working with engineering teams, customers, vendors, and project stakeholders to drive solutions forward. Strong initiative and continuous learning mindset, including advancing expertise in secure system implementation, emerging telecommunications technologies, and next generation system integration.
• Responsibilities: Lead and oversee complex installations, configurations, and full end to end validation of customer solutions using company products and integrated third party components. Diagnose and resolve advanced hardware, software, and network issues, often involving multi layered or cross system interactions, and drive high-priority escalations to resolution. Direct field deployments, ensuring all installation procedures, system architectures, test results, and operational challenges are accurately documented and aligned with best practices. Enforce and improve security and compliance procedures during system setup, integration, and maintenance activities, serving as a subject matter expert in secure solution implementation. Act as the senior technical interface for customers, delivering clear technical guidance, operational assessments, risk identification, and strategic resolution plans. Maintain comprehensive and precise service logs, issue records, configuration documentation, and customer support materials, ensuring traceability and audit readiness. Lead continuous improvement initiatives by identifying systemic issues, contributing to solution design enhancements, and supporting integration of new technologies or architectures. Mentor and develop Staff and Associate level engineers through structured training, field guidance, and advanced knowledge sharing to elevate team capability.

Lead Level (8-10 years)

• Experience: 8–10 years of engineering experience in computer technology, telecommunications, or related systems integration roles.
• Skill Focus: Master level understanding of IP networking, including complex routing designs, switching architectures, multi-layer VLAN environments, QoS strategies, and advanced diagnostic methodologies. Extensive field experience configuring, optimizing, and validating servers, routers, switches, radios, and multi technology telecommunications systems in mission critical environments. Ability to interpret, critique, and design complex technical diagrams, multi system architectures, and custom integration workflows with engineering level precision. Proven ability to resolve deeply complex, cross domain issues spanning hardware, software, security, and networking layers—often under high operational pressure and stringent timelines. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for senior level customer engagement, escalation management, and cross functional leadership. Demonstrated capability to lead technical teams in dynamic, high pressure field environments while navigating unexpected challenges with strategic clarity and composure. Strong leadership in cross functional collaboration, aligning engineering teams, customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to achieve operational and strategic objectives. Highly proactive mindset with deep commitment to continuous learning, secure implementation best practices, and mastery of next generation telecommunications technologies and architectures.
• Responsibilities: Direct and coordinate the planning, execution, and validation of highly complex customer solution deployments involving company products, multi-vendor systems, and custom integrations. Serve as the highest-level escalation point for critical hardware, software, and network issues, leading cross functional troubleshooting efforts and ensuring rapid, sustainable resolution. Architect and refine field deployment methodologies, ensuring consistent adherence to best practices, security guidelines, and performance standards across all engineering teams. Lead risk assessment, operational evaluation, and strategic technical decision making for customer missions, providing senior level guidance to internal leadership and external stakeholders. Oversee documentation quality and completeness across teams, ensuring all installation records, system configurations, test results, and customer support materials meet audit ready standards. Drive organizational continuous improvement initiatives by identifying systemic issues, recommending structural design enhancements, and championing adoption of emerging technologies and architectures. Lead and develop Staff and Senior level engineers through targeted coaching, advanced technical mentorship, and structured capability building programs. Represent field engineering in cross department strategic planning, collaborating with engineering, product, security, and leadership teams to influence long term platform direction and deployment strategy.
