Position Title: Director of Education Reports To: Vice President of Operations and Support Department: Job Corps Operations and Support FLSA Classification: Exempt Job Grade: Corporate EEO-1 Classification: 02 - Professionals Last Revision Date: 7/1/2026 SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION: The Director of Education provides leadership, oversight, training and support for all academic and career technical training (CTT) programs contracted by Education & Training Resources. This position ensures that ETR delivers high-quality educational services that prepare students for successful careers, post-secondary education, and lifelong learning. The Director of Education provides support to academic and vocational leadership staff, promotes instructional excellence, ensures compliance with Job Corps requirements, and provides clear guidance for the delivery of services to students with disabilities and special learning needs in compliance with Job Corps guidelines. The ETR Director of Education works collaboratively with Academic Managers, Career Technical Training Managers, Disability Coordinators, Counseling staff, and Center leadership to create an educational environment where all students can achieve their full potential. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership and Program Oversight
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for all academic and career technical training programs.
- Support Academic Managers, Vocational/CTT Managers, and other educational and leadership staff.
- Ensure integration and alignment of academic and vocational training programs to support student career pathways.
- Provide guidance to Centers as they develop and implement educational goals, improvement plans, and performance strategies that support center outcomes.
- Monitor educational performance indicators and collaborate with center leadership to develop corrective action plans as needed for each ETR Center.
- Identify and recommend resources that provide ETR staff with the current approaches to learning.
- Periodically review CTT offering to ensure the center is aligned with industry needs and make recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure academic and vocational instructors receive ongoing training, coaching, and professional development.
- Promote evidence-based instructional practices and innovative teaching strategies.
- During site visits, conduct observations of educational programs and provide feedback to instructional leaders.
- Guide onboarding, mentoring, and continuous professional growth opportunities for education Center educational management staff.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and student-centered instruction.
- Ensure students with disabilities and special learning needs receive the appropriate accommodation/s and support services.
- Collaborate with the Disability Coordinator, Counseling Department, and Health & Wellness staff to develop and monitor accommodation plans.
- Promote equitable access to academic and vocational opportunities for all students.
- Ensure instructional staff understand and implement accommodation and individualized support strategies.
- Monitor student retention, achievement, credential attainment, and progression toward career goals.
- Ensure compliance with Job Corps Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH), Department of Labor directives, and operator policies.
- Oversee academic accreditation requirements, credentialing processes, and educational recordkeeping.
- Conduct regular program reviews and audits to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
- Utilize performance data to identify trends, measure effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary educational advisor to the Center Director and leadership team.
- Work closely with Career Services, Student Services, Residential Living, and Health & Wellness departments to support student success.
- Guide Center leadership to build partnerships with local educational institutions, workforce agencies, and community organizations
- Coordinate with vendors who provide computer-based training and support directly to Job Corps Students to ensure the platforms continue to meet student and instructor needs.
- Work closely with subcontractors-who provide direct oversight a subcontractor at Centers where ETR is prime contractor. Conduct regular oversight to ensure compliance and performance and develop corrective action plans when contracts goals are not being met.

- Extensive knowledge of basic education, secondary education, adult education, and career technical training.
- Knowledge of special education laws, accommodations, and services for students with disabilities.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and staff development skills.
- Ability to analyze performance data and implement improvement strategies.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships across multiple departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student information management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare press releases; speak effectively before groups
- Strong organizational skills; strong networking, presentation, and follow-up skills
- Proven ability to identify issues and create action plans. Ability to adapt to changing work priorities
- Proficient in the use of computer software applications such as, MSWord, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in education, Educational Leadership, Workforce Development, Career and Technical Education, or related field. Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in education, Educational Leadership, Special Education, or related field.
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in education administration, instructional leadership, or workforce development.
- Minimum of three (3) years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including at-risk youth and young adults.
- Experience within the Job Corps program or other federally funded education and training programs.
- Experience overseeing both academic and career technical training programs.
- Background in supporting students with disabilities and special learning needs.
- Excellent writing skills
- Experience providing training to small and midsize groups of adult professionals.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Reading, writing and communicating fluently in English
- Hearing and speaking to express ideas and/or exchange information in person or over the telephone
- Seeing to read labels, posters, documents, PC screens, etc.
- Sitting, standing, moving about or walking for occasional or frequent periods of time
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment
- Kneeling, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching overhead
- Retrieving and storing files and supplies; occasionally carrying and/or lifting light objects
- Ability to travel throughout the center and visit classrooms, training areas, and community partners.
