Clinical Documentation Principal Trainer (Epic)

Job Summary: Clinical Documentation Principal Trainer

- Develop and deliver EHR training for clinical documentation workflows, with a focus on Epic systems (must be Epic-certified as a Principal Trainer).
- Design, build, and maintain training curriculum including instructor-led, virtual, and at-the-elbow sessions for providers and clinical staff.
- Create training materials such as manuals, eLearning modules, quick reference guides, and simulations; ensure alignment with system updates and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on clinical documentation workflows within the EHR; collaborate with informatics, application analysts, and IT to translate technical changes into user-facing content.
- Support EHR go-live and ongoing readiness activities, including command center operations.
- Drive optimization and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities through feedback, metrics, and workflow analysis; update materials and promote best practices.
- Participate in governance and workgroups related to documentation standards, system design, and regulatory compliance.
- Evaluate training effectiveness using surveys, assessments, and performance metrics; provide ongoing support and coaching to end users.
- Maintain training environment and documentation to ensure resources remain current and effective.

Required Skills:
- Epic-certified Principal Trainer in Clinical Documentation (required).
- At least 5 years' experience in Epic training roles.
- Experience with clinical documentation improvement (CDI) practices.
- Ability to work independently and ensure training meets Epic and organizational standards.
- Familiarity with regulatory/compliance standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
- Experience supporting large-scale EHR implementations/upgrades (highly desired).
- Certification in developing Epic training environments (highly desired).
