Billing Specialist

Billing Specialist Full‑time position located in Fairlawn, Ohio (3131 Smith Road, Fairlawn, OH 44333). 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:00–4:30 pm (flexible start time). This role is responsible for generating resident billings, following up on outstanding balances, and processing cash receipts in an accurate and timely manner. Accuracy and customer service are essential. Generate monthly resident billings for assigned facilities, applying correct policies and reflecting accurate charges and payments on a timely basis. Process daily census and record cash receipts, preparing supporting documentation and coding with appropriate account numbers and charge months. Monitor resident accounts‑receivable balances monthly and follow up timely on past‑due accounts; inform supervisors of problem accounts. Prepare required monthly census reports accurately, including number of days by payer type and admission/discharge summaries. Review and process new resident information (security deposits, resident status reports, census information) in the computer system. Monitor status of Medicaid applications and follow up on responsible areas in a timely manner. Generate monthly resident billings for Medicare, Managed Care, and/or Medicaid residents, including billing to the state of Ohio and submitting 9401s in a timely manner. Handle residents’ personal allowance funds: record monthly activity, monitor funds for allowable balances, distribute quarterly statements, and generate required letters. Analyze specific general ledger accounts, as necessary. Assist in preparation of the annual audit. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee, payroll, and human resources information. Support the village’s commitment to quality customer service and person‑centered care. Perform such additional duties as may be assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; minimum 3–5 years of experience in bookkeeping, billing, and accounts‑receivable. Experience with word processing and financial applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel, required. Experience in a long‑term care environment preferred. Experience with Point Click Care preferred. Reliable transportation. Must pass a pre‑employment physical exam. Physical ability to operate office equipment, calculators, computers, and to bend, stoop, and reach at different angles; walk, stand, and sit intermittently during the day. Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
