Community Resilience Coordinator

Position Summary The limited-term Community Resilience Coordinator will develop, coordinate, and implement disaster preparedness education programs to support County emergency management objectives. This role will conduct outreach and engagement with community-based organizations, schools, faith‑based organizations, businesses, neighborhood groups, and the public to strengthen disaster readiness and whole community resilience. The Coordinator will also work with volunteer groups, such as Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), develop brochures and pamphlets, deliver training workshops, and oversee volunteer recruitment and supervision. Responsibilities Assess need for education and training. Develop curriculum and program guidelines to meet identified needs. Research educational and training materials. Coordinate and/or prepare and deliver presentations. Conduct outreach to community organizations, schools, services organizations, festivals and special events. Develop brochures, pamphlets, and written materials related to the program and volunteer opportunities. Recruit volunteers, interview and select participants. Train, supervise, schedule, and oversee the activities of volunteers. Analyze and report on the effectiveness of education, training and volunteer programs. Develop and implement a volunteer recognition and retention program. Qualifications Working knowledge of community, civic and social organizations and volunteer recruitment. Experience developing program guidelines and procedures. Research, analysis and development of reports. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent customer service and the ability to create imaginative and educational promotional materials. Ability to gather, analyze, and report statistical data. Proficiency in computer software such as word processing. Experience with web page development and maintenance. Conditions of Employment Possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license or provide approved transportation and maintain a satisfactory driving record. Be available to report after work hours, work irregular or protracted hours, shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays during emergencies or disasters, including on‑call duty.
