The OPAL Mapping System is a 3D mapping and navigation system designed to support cardiac electrophysiology procedures. It provides real-time visualization of intracardiac catheters and displays 3D cardiac maps in selected formats during minimally invasive procedures to assist physicians in identifying the origin of arrhythmias within the heart chamber. As a physician probes the heart with a catheter, the system generates an accurate anatomical model of the chamber. High-performance rendering and algorithmic techniques are vital to creating a detailed view and providing physicians with immediate feedback.

The Software Test Engineer III will join a highly effective product quality team in Waltham, Massachusetts, working alongside developers in an Agile environment. This role will develop and execute test cases for a wide range of software components, including user interfaces and algorithms. Responsibilities include writing and updating test cases, manually executing tests and interacting with a variety of electronic equipment in the lab.

In addition to manual testing, the Software Test Engineer will contribute to test automation, requiring coding skills in Python or other programming languages within a Linux environment. Our tools include Jira, Jama, Jenkins and Squish.

Work model, sponsorship, relocation:

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our Waltham, Massachusetts, office at least three or four days per week. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Design, develop and execute test cases to ensure product quality, verify system functionality and confirm that business and user requirements are met within the electrophysiology domain.
• Manually execute tests and run automated test scripts.
• Create and execute automated test scripts.
• Debug and resolve issues within automated test scripts and their verification points.
• Debug and resolve issues related to the automation framework.
• Execute automation runs to test Jira items and coordinate testing activities across multiple Scrum teams.
• Ensure tests are conducted in accordance with written procedures.
• Document test results and prepare test reports.
• Diagnose problems and report defects and enhancement opportunities in the bug-tracking system.
• Share knowledge and demonstrate product areas to other team members on an ad hoc basis.
• Assist in determining test methodology, test strategy and test data setup.
• Participate in daily Scrum meetings, product review meetings, bug triage meetings and other team activities.
• Collaborate closely with software development, hardware engineering, field support and other cross-functional teams.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years' experience in software test engineering or a related field, or a master’s or advanced degree and a minimum of two years' experience in software test engineering or a related field. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, biomedical engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
• Minimum of three years' experience programming in Python.
• Experience with source code management tools such as Git and Bitbucket.
• Experience working with databases.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred qualifications:

• Programming experience with C++.
• Strong product quality and testing experience, preferably within the medical device industry.
• Experience with ultrasound medical devices.
• Working knowledge of test automation in Linux or Unix environments.
• Strong attention to detail with demonstrated organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to learn complex software and quickly adapt to new tools and technologies.
• Experience working in an Agile Scrum development environment.
• Ability to think logically and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Knowledge of company policies and requirements related to ISO and FDA documentation and medical device compliance.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
