About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical - Ortho/Neuro Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Night Shifts Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS Must-Have: BLS is required. ACLS is preferred. Description: Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical unit specializing in Orthopedic and Neurological care. The unit has 21 beds, including private and semi-private rooms. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6. Nights usually have a ratio closer to 1:5. Charge Nurse oversight is available 24/7. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Travel staff may be asked to work holidays based on unit needs. Monitored telemetry is available, but staff must have basic arrhythmia knowledge. Medications administered include IV gtts like Heparin or Protonix; no titrating gtts. Bipap, CPAP, and High Flow ventilators are utilized on the unit. Pharmacy and respiratory therapy services are available 24/7. Shifts are generally scheduled with requests entered two weeks in advance, allowing for block scheduling. The nurse may float to any medical-surgical unit except for emergency or behavioral health. Common patient diagnoses include total joints, spine surgeries, and neurological procedures. Reliable attendance is crucial for this role.
