Core DutiesMaintenance/Cleaner (Full Time, onsite) supports the Early Head Start site in Kingston by keeping the building safe, sanitary, and in good working order.Key responsibilities include commercial custodial cleaning of classrooms, bathrooms, offices, and common areas; trash removal; laundry support; receiving deliveries; and responding to spills and weather-related messes. You will also complete routine facility upkeep and minor repairs (basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry), perform safety/security checks of the property and playground areas, operate equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and carpet shampooers, and use cleaning chemicals according to safety procedures. Seasonal duties include snow removal and salt/sanding, sometimes requiring early mornings or weekends. Maintain basic logs using a computer and drive as needed for supply runs.Required qualifications/skills: - Commercial custodial and facilities maintenance experience- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling- Basic handyman skills; strong attention to detail- Physical stamina; ability to lift/move materials- Basic computer literacy; valid driver’s licenseApply if you can keep a busy center clean, safe, and ready for children and staff each day.Benefits PackageThis Maintenance/Cleaner role includes Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, plus Life Insurance and a Health Savings Account. You’ll also receive Paid Time Off and a competitive hourly rate of $19.00–$19.23.Typical ShiftYou work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM. The day starts with a quick walk-through to see what needs attention, then you move through the building in a steady routine—handling high-traffic areas, resetting spaces after activities, and keeping supplies stocked. You’ll coordinate timing so cleaning happens when rooms are available, then wrap up by noting completed items in the log and flagging anything that needs follow-up. During winter weather, you may come in early or return on a weekend to help clear and treat walkways so the site can open safely.
