Together, we pursue a shared mission to create a more sustainable future.Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe EHS Specialist has comprehensive responsibility for the implementation and administration of all Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and OSHA compliance Programs at the Veolia Minnetonka, MN facility under the EHS Site Leader. The EHS Specialist will strive to provide a healthy and accident-free work environment for all employees through the recognition, evaluation, and control of environmental and workplace health hazards. The EHS Specialist will counsel management and employees honestly and completely in the responsible and ethical application of environmental and industrial health principles and practices.Key CharacteristicsPassion for environmental, health, and safety-related mattersEnthusiastic trainerOrganized and attentive to detailsSelf-motivatedDuties & ResponsibilitiesFacilitate activities which drive compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and corporate EHS laws, regulations, policies, and guidelinesSupport and improve EHS programs and practices in the plant to eliminate hazards and reduce or eliminate associated risksSupport the Management of Change Program and conduct safety inspectionsParticipate incident investigationsParticipate in sustainability initiatives and reportingPromote behavioral based safetyEnsure all employee and contractor training is completed, documented, and maintainedKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesDemonstrate depth and breadth of knowledge in hazard recognition, evaluation, and controlAnalyze data and audit processes which drive compliance in Ergonomics, Noise, Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout, and Machine GuardingInitiate and drive the development programs to eliminate hazards and reduce or eliminate associated risksLead and/or support investigations of workplace incidents, complete root cause analyses to determine appropriate corrective actions, and ensure completionProvide EHS support to manufacturing departments and leaders in the design and installation of new or modified equipment, New Product Introduction, Incoming Material Approval System, and Management of ChangeProvide technical assistance and guidance to the plant by leading or assisting in safety committee team and meetings, including EHS regulatory interpretationsAssist in leading departmental EHS Projects and completing required reportsQualificationsEducation & ExperienceRequired:Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in Occupational Health and Safety, Chemistry, Engineering, or Environmental Science, or relevant experience3-5 years of experience in an EHS role at a chemical, (or industrial) manufacturing facility Preferred:Preferred:Professional certification(s) such as: Certified Safety Professional (CSP®), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or related professional certification(s) or current in processStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with plant management and production employeesWorking knowledge in ergonomics, noise, confined space, machine guarding, and chemical approvalsExperience in Industrial HygieneExperience with PHA and starting up new operationsKnowledge of working with Google Workspace or Microsoft OfficeWorking ConditionsLess than 10% travelAbility to work in a chemical environmentAdditional InformationAt Veolia, we realize diverse teams make smarter decisions, deliver better results, and build stronger communities. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity.
