Project Manager

Overview Some Project Manager roles are about keeping projects moving. This role is about becoming the person clients, detailers, erectors and internal teams rely on to make sure every stage of a project comes together. An established structural steel fabricator is looking to add an experienced Miscellaneous Project Manager to its growing team in Virginia. With a steady pipeline of commercial, healthcare, institutional and mission-critical projects, they’re looking for someone who can confidently take ownership of projects from award through to close-out. If you’ve built your career in structural steel fabrication or erection and enjoy seeing projects through from start to finish, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Responsibilities Take ownership of projects from award through to close-out, liaising with clients, detailers, erectors and internal teams to ensure all stages come together. Coordinate across a varied portfolio of structural and miscellaneous steel packages, including hotels and resorts and community buildings. Oversee projects from fabrication through installation, including: Requesting and managing information from architects and engineers Carrying out field measurements when required Coordinating with suppliers, subcontractors and other trades Scheduling fabrication, deliveries and erection activities Resolving site issues to keep projects on track Managing change orders, pricing variations and negotiating with contractors Monitoring job costs alongside the accounting team Building long-term relationships with clients and steel erectors Maintain strong communication, organization and commercial awareness, on par with technical knowledge. Qualifications At least 5 years’ Project Management experience with a structural steel fabricator or steel erector Experience managing steel projects valued between $1M-$20M Ability to confidently read architectural and structural drawings Degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Civil/Structural Engineering Experience using systems such as Procore, FabSuite or similar project management software Self-motivated, accountable and capable of managing client relationships while balancing multiple projects Benefits This opportunity offers more than just another Project Manager position.
