Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Senior Lead to oversee and lead daily maintenance operations. This is a hands-on leadership position for a strong maintenance professional who can guide a team of technicians while also troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical and facility systems.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with pumps, motors, hydraulics, and mechanical systems and is comfortable diagnosing difficult equipment issues, coordinating preventive maintenance, and leading technicians. Wastewater experience is highly preferred.

The Senior Lead will work closely with facility management and senior leadership to ensure equipment and building systems remain safe, reliable, compliant, and operational.

A Day in the Life

As a Facilities Maintenance Senior Lead, your day will combine hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, team leadership, and planning .

You may start the morning by reviewing maintenance priorities, equipment status, work orders, and any issues from the previous shift. You'll assign work to technicians, provide direction on urgent repairs, and make sure the team is focused on the highest-priority needs.

Throughout the day, you'll be hands-on with troubleshooting and repairs. This may include diagnosing pumps, motors, hydraulic systems, mechanical equipment, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and other facility equipment .

You'll also spend time coaching and mentoring technicians, helping them develop their troubleshooting skills and ensuring work is completed safely and correctly. When a complex problem arises, you'll be the person the team relies on to help identify the root cause and develop a lasting solution.

You'll coordinate preventive maintenance, review work orders, communicate with vendors and facility management, and help keep projects moving according to schedule and budget.

Before the end of the shift, you'll review completed work, document outstanding issues, communicate priorities for the next shift, and make sure the facility is positioned for reliable operation.

This is a leadership role—but it is also a hands-on maintenance role. We are looking for someone who is comfortable leading from the front and getting involved when technical problems require advanced expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, mentor, and train a team of maintenance technicians.
• Assign daily work and prioritize maintenance activities based on operational needs.
• Perform and oversee advanced troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair pumps, motors, hydraulic systems, and mechanical equipment .
• Troubleshoot facility systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Respond to complex equipment failures and emergency maintenance situations.
• Identify root causes of recurring equipment problems and implement long-term solutions.
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate maintenance projects from planning through completion.
• Work with vendors, contractors, and facility management as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, work orders, and preventive maintenance.
• Monitor maintenance activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
• Assist with maintenance budgeting, purchasing, and resource allocation.
• Support capital improvement projects and facility upgrades.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Serve as a technical resource and escalation point for the maintenance team.
• Communicate maintenance priorities, equipment concerns, and project updates to senior leadership.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in a related technical field is preferred.
• 5–7+ years of facility, industrial, or mechanical maintenance experience.
• Previous leadership, lead technician, or supervisory experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with pumps and motors — required.
• Strong hydraulics experience — required.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical equipment.
• Experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general facility systems.
• Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
• Proven ability to diagnose complex technical problems and identify root causes.
• Strong leadership and team-management skills.
• Ability to mentor, train, and develop maintenance technicians.
• Experience coordinating maintenance projects, schedules, and resources.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance issues in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Wastewater treatment or wastewater facility experience.
• Experience maintaining wastewater pumps, motors, hydraulic systems, or related equipment.
• Technical certifications such as EPA, CFC, Journeyman, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or other relevant certifications.
• Experience using a CMMS or computerized maintenance management system.
• Experience leading maintenance teams in a large industrial or commercial facility.
• Experience supporting multiple facilities or locations.
• Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainable facility operations.
• Experience with capital improvement projects and maintenance budgeting.

Technical & Technology Requirements

• Proficiency with CMMS or other maintenance management software for work orders, scheduling, and reporting.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical diagnostic tools and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to maintain accurate maintenance and compliance documentation.
