Students complete a full day's academic work in roughly two hours using adaptive software. There are no lectures or textbooks. Your role centers on what technology cannot replicate: guiding Pre-K through 8th grade students in developing life skills such as public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange. You will spend half your day facilitating hands-on workshops using structured frameworks and narrative techniques. The remaining half involves meeting with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their progress through Coachbot analytics within adaptive learning platforms, and driving them to achieve 100% of their weekly objectives. Mastery is demonstrated through Test2Pass assessments rather than participation-based grading. During your first year, you will be responsible for a student cohort and become proficient in Alpha's methodology: life skills workshops, motivational coaching sessions, and mastery-based evaluation. Once you demonstrate consistent success in holding every student to 100% goal completion while maintaining satisfaction ratings above 90%, advancement to Lead Guide becomes available—a role where you mentor other Guides while remaining directly engaged with students. What You Will Be Doing Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for Pre-K through 8th grade students covering public speaking, concentration, teamwork, and constructive feedback (activity-based and project-oriented) Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching sessions where you examine each student's advancement in adaptive learning platforms (via Coachbot analytics), establish objectives, and drive them toward 100% weekly target achievement Overseeing and assessing Test2Pass evaluations to verify students have genuinely mastered each life skill rather than simply attended Adjusting your coaching approach across a broad developmental spectrum, from Pre-K learners requiring high energy and physical activity to 8th graders needing direct communication and accountability Establishing authentic connections with each student so they trust you sufficiently to receive coaching through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty What You Won’t Be Doing Delivering lectures or traditional academic content (students complete core academics through adaptive applications, not through your instruction) Creating lesson plans or curriculum independently (Alpha supplies life skills frameworks; your responsibility is to animate them through energy and narrative) Handling parent communications or administrative tasks (Campus Leads manage these duties; your attention remains on students) Evaluating homework or preparing students for standardized tests (these elements do not exist at Alpha) Operating independently (you are integrated into a campus team including Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who exchange feedback and maintain mutual accountability) Student Success Coach Key Responsibilities Guarantee that every student in your cohort enjoys school, develops critical life skills, and achieves 100% of their academic objectives through adaptive learning technology. Basic Requirements Bachelor's degree in any discipline Minimum 3 years of direct experience with Pre-K through 8th grade students (teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program management) Demonstrated experience motivating or coaching Pre-K through 8th grade students toward academic, behavioral, or extracurricular objectives, including at least one concrete example you can articulate (the objective, your actions, and the result) Regular use of generative AI applications (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) Availability to work onsite at Alpha's Central Houston, South Houston, or The Woodlands campus (relocation assistance provided) Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship Nice-to-have Requirements Background in youth sports coaching, camp direction, or after-school program coordination where you held direct responsibility for motivating children toward defined goals History of significant personal accomplishment (academic distinctions, competitive sports, or leadership positions requiring consistent excellence) Innate narrative skill: you can maintain the attention of a group of 12-year-olds for an hour without elevating your voice Success in motivating unmotivated or reluctant students and converting them into engaged participants About Alpha Alpha reimagines the school day around faster learning, stronger mentorship, and more time for students to build real-world skills. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record.
