Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and Major Range and Test Facilities Base, NDAA 1125 (a) and (c) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as an Environmental Protection Specialist with responsibility for assisting in the overall management of the Tooele Army Depot Environmental Program. - Plans, develops, organizes, administers, evaluates, and coordinates one or more environmental protection programs for all areas of the installation.
- Manages one or more environmental programs, such as: Clean Air Act; Noise; Solid Waste Management; Storage Tank Program; etc.,
- Manages and maintains the installation's drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater programs.
- Provides support to the Tooele Army Depot (TEAD) Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Track requirements, compile data, coordinate with Restoration Program contractors, and prepare reports.
- Functions as a team leader for audit teams to conduct inspections of installation facilities and operations to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The position requires the incumbent to wear protective clothing and equipment.
- A pre-employment physical is required due to the physical and working conditions of the position.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

- This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In making this determination, the agency may consider your performance and conduct; agency needs and interests; whether your continued employment supports organizational or Government goals; and whether it promotes the efficiency of the Federal service. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest.
