We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer, Platform Engineering to join our dynamic and growing Platform Engineering team. Key Responsibilities : Own platform and cloudarchitecture DefineandevolveTango’splatformarchitectureacrossAWS,GCP,andAzure,includingnetworking,compute, storage, and environment strategy. Drivecloudmodernizationinitiatives(migration,re-platforming,standardizationofdeployment patterns,scalabilityand resilience improvements). Createreferencearchitecturesandguardrailsthatenableautonomywhileimprovingconsistencyand operational quality. Establish reliability and operationalexcellence Setreliabilitystandardsandpractices(SLOs/SLIs,errorbudgets,capacityplanning,incidentresponseand postmortems). Improveobservabilityandoperationalreadiness(monitoring,alerting,tracing,dashboards,runbooks) to reduce MTTR and recurring incidents. Identifysystemicbottlenecks(latency,throughput,resourceutilization,toil)andleadcross-team initiatives to address them. Enable government cloud readiness(FedRAMP) ProvidetechnicalleadershipforarchitecturesandoperationalcontrolsneededforFedRAMP/ government cloud certification readiness. PartnerwithSecurity/Compliancetotranslatecontrolsintoengineeringrequirementsandpragmatic implementation plans. Leadtechnicalreviewsforidentity,access,auditability,logging,changemanagement,andincident processes in regulated environments. Raise the bar through standards and mentorship Establishandevangelizebestpractices:designdocs,architecturereviews,codingstandards,testing strategy, CI/CD quality gates, production readiness. Mentorseniorengineers,techleads,andemergingtechnicalleaders;coachteamsthroughcomplex designs and tradeoffs. Createreusablepatternsand“goldenpaths”(templates,libraries,tooling)thatmaketherightwaytheeasy way. About You: Technical breadth anddepth Strongworkingknowledgeacrossmultiplestacks,includingJava/J2EE,Oracle,Postgres,and modern frontend frameworks (React and Vue.js). HandsoncloudexperienceacrossAWS,GCP,and/orAzure,withabilitytodivedeeponarchitecture, performance, reliability, and operations. ExperiencedesigningandoperatingdistributedsystemsforB2BSaaSwithastrongfocuson resiliency, scalability, and cost/performance tradeoffs. Global cloud systems + regulatedenvironments Experiencewithglobalcloudsystems(multi-region,disasterrecovery,highavailability,dataresidencyconsiderations). ExperiencesupportingFedRAMPand/orcomparablegovernmentcloudcertificationefforts(e.g., Moderate/High) oroperatingwithin similarly regulated environments. ComfortpartneringwithSecurity/Compliancewhilemaintainingengineeringvelocityandstrong developer experience. Leadership as a seniorIC Provenabilitytoinfluencewithoutauthority—aligningstakeholders,drivingdecisions,andbuilding consensus across teams. Excellentwrittenandverbalcommunication;abletoauthorcleardesigndocsandarchitecturalproposals. A coaching mindset withdemonstratedimpactmentoring and developing engineers acrossteams. Nice toHave Kubernetesandcloud-nativeoperationsexperience(platformtooling,servicemeshes,policy-as-code). Experiencebuildinginternalplatforms/sharedservices(identity/auth,developertooling,CI/CDplatforms). FinOps or cloud cost optimization experience atscale. Base pay offered is contingent on qualifications and other operational considerations. Base pay is just one piece of the full compensation structure offered at Tango. If this pay range is outside of your expectations, we still encourage you to apply and have a conversation with us. Base pay offered for this position is: $200,000 - $240,000
