Pope Saint John Paul II Preparatory School is a Catholic, STEM-designated 6-12 institution committed to forming students through the integration of faith and reason. Position Overview

We seek high school educators across our departments-Fine Arts, Science, Mathematics, English, Social Studies, World Languages, Theology, and Fitness-who view teaching as a matter of the heart. Our teachers build authentic relationships through dialogue, reciprocal growth, and genuine engagement with each student. We see each young person as an eternal being with an immortal soul, a source of hope for the world who is destined for eternal joy. The ideal candidate will guide students to think like practitioners in their field-whether as artists, scientists, mathematicians, writers, historians, linguists, theologians, or athletes-while forming Christ in the lives of all involved in our community and preparing students for purposeful lives of faith and leadership.
Key Responsibilities

• Relational Teaching : Build authentic relationships with each student through dialogue and reciprocal engagement, recognizing that education is fundamentally about the heart
• Advanced Disciplinary Thinking : Guide students to approach complex problems, questions, and texts the way professionals in your discipline do-developing sophisticated thinking, scholarly habits, and the methods of your field
• Christ-Centered Formation : Ground all instruction in Christ as the first teacher and model, weaving faith seamlessly throughout curriculum and helping students integrate their intellectual and spiritual lives
• College & Career Preparation : Prepare students for the intellectual rigor and independence required for post-secondary success while forming them as leaders who will serve the Church and world
• Collaborative Excellence : Engage in honest, charitable teamwork with colleagues across departments-offering creative ideas, providing constructive feedback with grace, and celebrating shared successes as gifts from God and the fruit of collective effort

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in relevant content area or related field
• Commitment to supporting the school's Catholic mission
• Demonstrated ability to build meaningful relationships with high school students
• Strong classroom management skills rooted in respect and authentic engagement
• Proficiency with educational technology
• Commitment to ongoing professional development

Preferred:

• Degree in Education or teaching certification
• Master's degree in Education or content area
• Experience teaching in Catholic schools
• Experience with high school-aged learners
• Familiarity with college preparatory curriculum and standards
• Background in Advanced Placement, honors, or interdisciplinary instruction
• Experience mentoring students or advising extracurricular activities
