Work Environment

The position is primarily onsite in a hospital facility, where you will work within a dynamic and fast-paced rehabilitation department. Key Responsibilities

• Implement therapy programs designed by the supervising Physical Therapist, focusing on enhancing patients' mobility, strength, and overall physical function.
• Administer therapeutic exercises and modalities, under the guidance of the Physical Therapist, to optimize recovery outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient treatments, responses, and progress through our electronic medical record (EMR) system, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Educate patients and their families on proper techniques, posture, and home exercise programs to promote safety and progress outside of therapy sessions.
• Collaborate effectively with physical therapists, clinic aides, and administrative staff to streamline patient care and ensure a smooth operational workflow.
• Monitor and assess patient progress continuously, adjusting treatment plans as necessary and communicating any significant changes in condition to physicians and family members.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss patient care plans and outcomes, fostering an environment of continuous improvement.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The PTA will primarily work with a diverse group of patients in an outpatient orthopedic clinic setting. Patients may include those recovering from surgical procedures, sporting injuries, and various musculoskeletal conditions. The role requires sensitivity to the varying needs of patients, ensuring that each individual receives personalized care tailored to their specific recovery goals. The multidisciplinary team works closely to ensure coordinated care.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required, with preference given to candidates who have completed a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Licensure: Current and valid New Jersey PTA license is required to practice in the state.
• Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
• Excellent time management skills to handle a busy caseload while ensuring quality patient care.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a physical therapy setting, with a preference for candidates with outpatient orthopedic experience.
• Experience with electronic medical record systems is highly desirable to facilitate efficient documentation and patient management.
• CPR certification is required, or candidates must be willing to obtain certification prior to the commencement of employment.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is competitive, offering between $60,000 and $75,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
