Our high‑touch pharmacy program serves physicians and patients in the behavioral health, mental health, and addiction treatment spaces. This is a fantastic opportunity for a collaborative, motivated Pharmacist who wants to be part of a company making a difference in the lives of patients struggling with opioid addiction. We offer a competitive salary of $133,120 – $141,440, full‑time employment, and a sign‑on bonus. Essential Functions Prescription order review and clarification (prior to dispensing) Verify source of prescription Contact physicians’ offices for clarification or questions on any orders written by the physician Provide clinical advice to physicians regarding medication treatments Obtain any and all information necessary from physicians to ensure accurate and safe dispensing of medications to the patient Resolve prescription discrepancies Prescription Dispensing Take prescription orders over the telephone from physicians or their agents Verify correct drug is being dispensed and the drug matches the prescription order Verify correct patient for dispensing Verify correct route of administration Verify correct drug dosage and strength Verify correct administration schedule or time (directions) Include appropriate manufacturer or other patient education materials with dispensed drugs Obtain insurance authorizations as required Investigate and manage insurance denials as required Complete quality control and DUR check on prescriptions, ensuring adherence to all policies, procedures and laws Provide patient‑specific consultation on all aspects of their medication regimen Maintain appropriate records and computer entry of prescriptions and patient information Document patient interventions with adequate detail in both clinical and non‑clinical records as appropriate Report adverse events to the appropriate collector, such as MedWatch or a manufacturer, in a timely manner Managerial Responsibilities Correct behaviors and discipline employees, as necessary Address complaints and resolve issues Oversight of Pharmacy Safety Maintain accountability for general supervision of the pharmacy staff Provide direct supervision of the processes involved in dispensing and preparing medicines Ensure compliance with FDA mandates and self‑imposed manufacturer restrictions on particular drugs, as applicable Enforce all federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to drug dispensing and patient privacy, as well as company policies and procedures Additional Duties Remain dependable and maintain levels of confidentiality Ensure that patient rights are upheld and support informed decision‑making by the patient Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with prescribers Perform all other duties as assigned Education and Experience Pharm.D. or BS Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy, required Successful completion of state pharmacy board examination Pharmacist license current and in good standing with the state Board of Pharmacy Maintenance of continuing education requirements Experience dispensing medications prescribed for the treatment of addiction, preferred Experience using Pioneer, preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to recognize the needs of and express concern for others Knowledge of counseling patients regarding the clinical benefit and use of their customized medication Expertise in understanding third‑party plan coverage options for customized medication patients Comprehension of federal, state, and local laws and regulations applicable to the practice of pharmacy Familiarity with workflow concepts relating to the practice of specialty retail pharmacy Show full understanding of controlled substance rules and regulations as dictated by the Drug Enforcement Agency, and state and local laws and regulations Knowledge, training, and expertise in pharmacotherapeutics to oversee the pharmacy patient management program Possess leadership skills and abilities: time management, organizational skills, professionalism, communication skills (oral and written), ability to prioritize effectively, and ability to delegate effectively Empathetic and caring demeanor Working Conditions Light to moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.) – heavier weights with assistance Sitting & standing for long periods of time Repetitive motions and/or prolonged computer use Working at a fast pace, subject to many interruptions and both physical and mental stress Location: Louisville, KY (SCS E Broadway) Shift Days: Exempt / Non‑Exempt Work Schedule: Full‑Time St. Matthews Pharmacy is an Equal Opportunity Employer that believes diversity leads to a stronger organization.
