Receiving Technician

The Receiving Technician is responsible for receiving, processing, and coordinating delivery of inventory/non-inventory supplies and equipment in an efficient/timely manner.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.

Work Experience: 1 - 2 years related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficient PC skills as required for inventory transactions, data entry, selecting/executing reports, and analyzing data. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective/efficient manner.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Assists staff with receiving inventory and non-inventory supplies and equipment.
• Receives and processes purchase orders as applicable.
• Unloads freight from vendor's trucks and signs for incoming materials and equipment, verifying the count and condition of goods received; obtains signed notation from driver on shipping document for any shortage or damage; and, records on delivery log, each freight carrier along with the quantity of pieces delivered to dock.
• Verifies receipt of incoming supplies and/or equipment ensuring that items received match items listed on packing list(s); records and enters good receipt in material system; sorts received items according to stocking location(s) or destination department(s) and, attaches receipt ticket to items, as required; and, moves supplies and/or equipment to appropriate staging area for delivery.
• Contacts vendors, or distributors, to resolve over/short/damaged (OS&D) issues; prepares necessary paperwork to return overages, incorrect or damaged shipments; communicates discrepancies with appropriate buyer in purchasing department; and, resolves receiving discrepancies, or questions, with purchasing or accounting departments, as necessary.
• Acts as customer service representative to customer departments by answering and returning calls to assist with any purchase order related inquiries and, resolves purchase order problems with the purchasing department.
• Acts as a customer service representative to departments by answering/returning calls to assist with supply related inquiries and resolving purchasing issues.
• Coordinates the movement and delivery of freight to destination departments; and assists with the movement of supply and distribution inventory supplies to appropriate locations.
• Maintains a neat, safe, and orderly work area ensuring that area is: swept, trash removed, and boxes baled. Maintains security in restricted area(s), questioning the presence of unauthorized personnel; and checks/locks exterior doors at end of shift.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.

Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
