Radiology - CT Tech

Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist

The CT Technologist coordinates and participates in all computerized tomography scanning procedures, setting up, monitoring, and operating complex computerized equipment for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and monitor computer operation of C.T. equipment per patient.
• Transfer and position patients utilizing accepted standards of safety and proper lifting techniques.
• Provide required patient identification and obtain vital information, such as known allergies and pertinent medical history.
• Properly prepare and inject contrast media intravenously into appropriate patients as needed for examinations.
• Make and develop images for permanent files of each patient, recording all studies on magnetic tape for future reference.
• Organize daily patient schedule in cooperation with work-room technician.
• Maintain image quality and perform daily calibration and quality control of equipment.
• Monitor patients for allergic reactions and assist with emergency medical situations, including providing basic CPR.
• Maintain cleanliness of the working environment and assure supplies are maintained within department inventory levels.
• Instruct new personnel as necessary and assist Radiologists and other physician specialists in performing specialized radiological procedures.
• Review and record pertinent patient history and supportive clinical data to aid the Radiologist in diagnosis.
• Participate in departmental quality assessments and continuous quality improvement opportunities.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ years of CT experience (required)
• Experience with Phillips equipment (required)
• Traveler experience preferred
• BLS certification
• ARRT certification
• Michigan license verification required for nurses; LARA and Nursys validation needed

Schedule

This position requires a shift from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM, four days a week, with possible weekend commitments every other weekend.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
