Job Description

The Credit Analyst for Equipment Finance is responsible for approving the extension of credit and/or making recommendations to the final decision-makers regarding new, renewal, and extension transactions. The analyst conducts comprehensive credit analysis by gathering, interpreting, and evaluating financial, collateral, and credit information on prospective and existing customers.

The successful candidate will review and analyze credit information, identify and assess business and transaction risk, prepare credit recommendations, and support portfolio monitoring activities. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate recommendations clearly and effectively.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct complete credit analyses for equipment finance transactions and customers.
• Review and interpret credit information, including:
  • Dun & Bradstreet reports
  • Personal credit information
  • Financial information
  • Collateral analysis
  • Business risk assessments
• Evaluate transactions to determine whether the supporting information presents a complete and accurate credit story.
• Analyze customer accounts and portfolios to identify potential credit quality concerns and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate risk.
• Prepare credit write-ups, recommendations, and approval requests within established systems and workflows.
• Document approval rationale and credit recommendations in Excel and credit approval systems.
• Support equipment finance transactions generally under $1 million, including assets such as:
  • Software
  • Construction equipment and excavators
  • Portable buildings
  • Other commercial-use equipment
• Partner with credit approvers throughout the review and decision-making process.
• Utilize technology and credit analysis tools to evaluate transactions and identify potential risks while exercising independent judgment in recommending courses of action.
  

Additional Responsibilities

• Support audit requirements and quality control reviews.
• Participate in static pool reviews and quarterly portfolio performance assessments.
• Maintain compliance with credit policies, procedures, and risk management standards.
• Assist with portfolio monitoring and ongoing review activities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient transaction processing and high-quality credit decisions.
  

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

This position works closely with a variety of internal and external partners, including:

• Internal sales representatives
• External vendors
• Documentation teams
• Credit approvers
• Portfolio management partners
• Risk and audit teams
  

Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential to success in this role.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.

• Typically four or more years of relevant experience
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong credit analysis and analytical skills.
• In-depth knowledge of credit analysis, credit administration, credit policy, procedures, and risk assessment.
• Background in finance, accounting, economics, banking, or a related discipline.
• Experience analyzing commercial credit transactions and financial statements.
• Ability to review and evaluate collateral and equipment-based transactions.
• Strong written communication skills, including technical report writing and credit documentation.
• Effective verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Experience with credit and portfolio management tools such as:
  • EFE
  • Doc Manager
  • Dun & Bradstreet
  • PayNet

Location expectations

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week. This position is located in Marshall, MN.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $70,890.00 - $83,400.00
