Job Title: MS/Tele RN - Inpatient Surgery Unit Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Ability to manage patient ratios of 1:6 - Strong teamwork skills Description: The MS/Tele RN will work in a dynamic inpatient surgery unit. The role involves caring for a wide range of patients who have had or are scheduled for surgical procedures. Common patient diagnoses include cellulitis, appendicitis, cholecystitis, and various traumas. The RN will be responsible for performing assessments, developing care plans, and administering medications. Teamwork is essential, and the RN will work closely with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy and respiratory services. Each nurse will be required to float as needed and will work every other weekend. No on-call shifts are required. The unit sees various surgical procedures including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, and wound debridement. Special equipment utilized in this role includes wound vacs and chest tubes. Candidates should have experience with IV management and the ability to interpret dysrhythmias. It is essential to follow strict policies regarding time off and call-offs. All staff must be prepared to respond during emergencies or disasters. This unit operates under a combination acuity model, covering both medical-surgical and surgical stepdown patients. A focus on quality patient care and adherence to safety protocols is paramount. The nursing staff will participate in hospital orientation and unit-specific training. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills and a commitment to patient-centered care.
